The setting

Cheyenne Mountain Resort occupies two hundred and seventeen acres at the foot of the range, arranged around a thirty five acre private lake with its own beach. Rooms open onto private patios and balconies facing the mountains, and a Pete Dye golf course runs through the property.

What that scale buys a wedding is not grandeur, it is time. Guests stay on site. The ceremony, the reception and the morning after all happen within a short walk. Nobody is driving, nobody is late, and the day keeps the hour that travel usually takes from it.

Where the day happens

The Centennial Room is the largest of the indoor spaces at roughly four thousand eight hundred square feet and carries up to five hundred guests. Remingtons serves as a reception venue at a different scale and character, and the outdoor courtyard and terrace hold the more intimate ceremonies. In total the property runs to more than forty thousand square feet of event space across twenty four rooms, which means a wedding here is rarely constrained by the building.

The lake is the asset most couples underuse. It sits open to the sky with the range behind it, and in the last hour of light it is the strongest photograph on the property. We build the timeline so that hour is not spent indoors.

Light on this side of the city

At roughly six thousand feet the sun here is harder and more contrasty than most couples expect from photographs they have seen elsewhere. The compensation is the end of the day. Because the range sits directly west, usable light leaves the property thirty to forty five minutes before the published sunset, and the half hour before it goes is the best light the property offers all day. Everything in the timeline is built backward from that window.

How we work on a property like this

We walk the grounds before the wedding, time the light against the specific spaces chosen, and mark the positions we will use. We arrive early, stay out of guest sightlines, coordinate directly with the events team, and carry full liability coverage and redundant equipment as standard.
